New grid record in Paul Ricard for the third race weekend of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe is back on track this weekend at Paul Ricard circuit, France. It’s the third round of the series which marks the halfway point of the season.raton lambo

It’s a season that has kicked off under the domination of Patrick Kujala. The young Finn, racing for Bonaldi Motorsport, has stormed the previous two rounds with wins in both races in Silverstone in May, and in the Monza opener in April.

On the 5.842 km long French circuit, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe sees a new grid record, with 34 cars lined up including 28 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo.

A 20-point gap divides the leader from chasers Sergio Campana and Fabrizio Crestani. The Team Lazarus duo scored P3 in both races held in Silverstone with the German Florian Spengler right behind them, also racing under the Bonaldi Motorsport banner. The Antonelli Motorsport pair of Italian Daniel Zampieri and Russian Roman Mavlanov, managed a P2 both in Monza and in Silverstone.

Also aiming for a top position in Paul Ricard will be the Raton Racing duo Edoardo Liberati/Patric Niederhauser. The Italian/Swiss pair managed their first podium finish in England with a P2 in Race One.

Other PRO Class drivers include Shinya Michimi and Kei Cozzolino (Vincenzo Sopsiri Racing); veterans Giacomo Barri and Alberto Cerqui (Imperiale Racing); and Alberto Di Folco, with Raton Racing.

At the top of the PRO-AM Class are the Swiss Adrian Amstutz (Konrad Motorsport) who managed his first Class win in Silverstone, and the Leipert Motorsport duo made up of the Finn Mikko Eskelinen and the Dutchman Kelvin Snoeks. Silverstone also saw a first win for Loris Spinelli and Marco Moscato (Antonelli Motorsport) chasing eight points behind the leaders, along with the Matteo Bobbi and Jay Palmer Bonaldi Motorsport pair. Raffaele Giannoni (Automobile Tricolore) is third.

The Artline Team Georgia top driver Shota Abkhazava is the current AM Class leader. With a P1 and a P2 finish in Silverstone, as he did in Monza, he leads the pack with a nine-point margin over the Swiss Mark Ineichen (Konrad Motorsport), and the Portuguese Eugenio and Sergio Montez (Veloso Motorsport).

Taking four podiums out of four, Argentinian Andres Josephsohn (Bonaldi Motorsport), managed his first Class win in Silverstone alongside the Porto Rican Ricardo Vera. He now leads the Gallardo AM Cup over the Imperiale Racing pair made up by the veteran Andrea Palma and the Portuguese Carina Lima, who will also be the only lady racing in Paul Ricard.

The weekend schedule includes two free practice sessions of one hour each on Friday. Qualifying is set for Saturday at 9.15 CET (two 15-minute sessions with a five minute pause between). Race One starts at 14.30 CET and will be over the usual 50-minute distance. The green light for Race Two is Sunday at 10.50.

Both races will be live streamed as usual on the official Lamborghini Squadra Corse website http://squadracorse.lamborghini.com/en/live
